Should i stop playing until GW2 release?
Guild wars 1 will be obsolete when Guild wars 2 hits the market. She I keep playing part 1, because it seems like a waist of time knowing that part 1 is not connected to part 2. My characters wont be transferred, so that is going to stink.

Do you enjoy the game? If so, keep playing. If not, try something else until GW2 comes out.
The Hall of Monuments is there to offer some benefits to those that keep grinding until GW2 but if you are only concerned about your characters' lives then you are out of luck. 200+ years is too long for even a hero to live so you'll just have to trust your descendants to do a decent job of carrying the torch. |

If you think of it that way, then why did you even start playing Guild Wars in the first place? All things eventually come to an end.
Guild Wars 1 isnt obsolete just because Guild Wars 2 is released. Theres nothing stopping you from playing Guild Wars 1 for many years to come. Hell, I've played Diablo 1 before picking up Diablo 2, and servers are still active for both of those games after almost a decade. |

The question is do you enjoy playing guild wars? If the answer to that is yes then you have the answer to your question. Also, GW 1 will continue to be a game even after GW 2 is released. I don't expect it will be as busy as it is now however people may still want to work on the titles that transfer through the hall of monuments and new players may want to see how things started out and get the history behind GW 2.
If you do not enjoy GW 1 you may or may not enjoy GW 2...that remains to be seen. Also, it will be 1-2 years before GW 2 is released so you can either get on with your life and come back later or continue to play like you do now. Only you can answer your questions...you just have to ask yourself the right ones. heheh...you guys beat me to it |

In being fair
I understand where you are coming from with this question... and at the same time... I have thought about it too. However, that was prior to getting into a good guild where we actually have fun. I don't dwell so much on gw2... the hall of monuments is a great addition... and will really enhance the authenticity of your character once you create him/her/it in gw2. You will have a lineage. In the meantime... guildwars, to me, is all about friends and spending time with each other.
Hopefully I don't offend anyone here, but leavers are normally the ones who don't "get" guildwars. They hop from guild to guild expecting the "miracle" to happen. Someday they will arrive in a guild... gold will drop from the rafters... and men who play women online will turn out to really be women after all. My suggestion... join a good guild... carry your guild over into the future... and remember that this is about having fun. Sweet... or just complain about any game you play and forget that massive online is about people interacting with people... not miracles. |

Are you having fun? Then keep playing.
Are you not having fun? Then why the hell are you here asking us if you should keep playing. Just stop and find something you enjoy. |

I honestly think you love the game, otherwise you wouldn't be here in a GW forum asking this question.
It just sounds like you may have hit a block in the flow of your gaming....try making another toon...finding a fun build to play, or just chatting with new people in the larger towns? GW has so many things to explore...don't stop if you love it so.. |

i just played PVP on trial key for about 40 minutes.
Don't think i'll be buying the game. it's ok but one thing I really don't like is that the Mouse isn't locked to camera view like another game i used to play so it's really annoying when you want to look around. furthermore it just doesn't really appeal dunno why but yeah |

In relation to what Antheus said and your thread.
Code:
You have been playing for 15 months. Please take a break. ================================================= I personally agree with the general response of this thread. Another way you could look at the situation is; you could regret not continuing to play the Guild Wars as we know it today, because your characters in Guild Wars 2 will be less fortunate in having the ???goodies.??? Therefore your access to exclusive heroes, armour, weapons and much more will be somewhat limited. My personal perception was quite similar to yours, but I figured why not make the best of my Guild Wars times now then never, because if I don't, I could regret it when Guild Wars 2 comes out, and I hate regret. Often times like these where you know you don't have all the time in the world, you treasure what time you do have, especially if that time is short, and make the most of it. You might be surprised with how grateful you would be if you continue to play. You may also find yourself thinking, "what if?" Instead of "should I continue to play?" In the end it all boils down to you and what you decide. All the best! |

it proably wont't be obselete because people who buy gw2 will probably in the end by the first one to see what it was about. besides this you're not playing for the sake of playing are you? The games supposed to be fun, if your not enjoying it then stop, dont leaeve because a new version wll coming out and these so called invested hours of grind you have to do will not have a use

Why would you want your characters transferred anyway? The only unique thing about characters in Guild Wars is the name anyway. GW's character customization system doesn't allow for enough diversity or uniqueness to even justify coding a transfer system. |

Yes, if you have that much doubt. There is no way to know when the actual release of the game will be so I would just turn off the computer until you hear that GW2 will be released.
